Surprise’s own collection service takes the mattress from outside your home. You normally have to book a date in advance and follow their wrapping rules.
City of Surprise bulk trash and appliance removal
Residents serviced by the City of Surprise Solid Waste Department, which excludes addresses on private-hauler, HOA-contracted, commercial or apartment dumpster service. Appointments are made on 623.222.1900.

Acceptable bulk trash is described as household items and yard debris, with a limit of 10 cubic yards per pickup per household (about 6 feet long by 4 feet wide by 4 feet tall) and 20 cubic yards per year at no additional charge. Materials go in the street against the curb before 6 a.m. on collection day and may be set out the weekend prior; the resident need not be home; piles must be ten feet from any fixed object and off sidewalks and private property; bulk trash may not be placed on arterial or collector roads, where a signed Release of Liability Form is required. Appliances need their own appointment and carry a charge. Refused: household food waste, branches over four feet, construction or demolition debris of 25 pounds or more or longer than four feet or from a contractor, dirt, rock, concrete, block, brick and roofing material, metal or car parts over 25 pounds or four feet, any glass including windows, shower doors and mirrors, batteries, hazardous materials, tires and flat screen TVs.
