Households with City of Minneapolis pickup service — carts marked 'property of the City of Minneapolis'. Households with dumpsters or private-hauler carts do not qualify and are sent to Hennepin County's Green Disposal Guide.

Crews take up to two large items each week. Mattresses and box springs must be set out on the recycling week, not the garbage week, by 6 a.m., with a note attached reading 'For Solid Waste'. Crews tag recycling-day large items with a 'We'll be back' sticker and return the next business day; the item stays at the collection point with the sign and sticker until collected. Keep the mattress as dry as possible and protect it from rain or snow — waterlogged or frozen mattresses are too heavy and cannot be collected for recycling. To set a mattress out at 6 a.m. on the collection day itself, call 612-673-2917 on or before the regularly scheduled recycling pickup day. Missed pickups must be reported within two business days.

3Drop-off options near Minneapolis
