Columbia’s own collection service takes the mattress from outside your home. You normally have to book a date in advance and follow their wrapping rules.
City of Columbia (MO) large item / bulky item collection
Residential customers of the Columbia Solid Waste Utility receiving curbside collection. Customers who live in a multi-family home are not eligible and must contact their landlord to arrange disposal.

Bulky items are normal household items too large to be placed in a roll cart, such as furniture; prohibited are building and remodelling materials, felled trees, large automobile parts, hazardous materials and items which generally cannot be handled by two individuals. Pickups are requested through the 'Large Item Collection' form on the CoMo Recycle and Trash app or by calling 573.874.2489. The item must be at the curb by 7:30 a.m., not in the street, with 8 feet of clearance from other objects and 3 feet from the roll cart. If the item is not curbside, or someone removes it, the resident must call to cancel to avoid the fee. Major appliances are a separate service on the regular trash day at $29 with refrigerant and $21.50 without, and do not qualify for the free item.
